Appleby Grammar School and Appleby Primary School will be closed tomorrow, Monday 10 February, due to the extreme weather conditions. Our priority is the safety of all students and staff. We hope to reopen on Tuesday 11 February.
Update : 10 February @ 15.40pm :
Following our school closure today due to the extreme weather and flooding, we currently hope to be OPEN tomorrow, Tuesday 11 February. Please be advised that we are currently liaising with United Utilities regarding repairs taking place which may affect our water supply and, therefore, our decision to remain open. We will attempt to keep parents/carers updated as much as possible.
Update : 10 February @ 16.55pm :
We have now been told that repairs to the water main serving Appleby and large areas of the Eden Valley will not be completed until at least 07.30 on 11/2/2020.
On the advice of Cumbria CC a large number of schools, including AGS, have been told to CLOSE TOMORRROW (Tuesday 11/2/2020) to avoid having to inform parents, students and staff of closure at the last minute tomorrow morning should repairs not be completed.
All being well, we will reopen at 8.50 on Wednesday 12th February.
Many of you will be aware that a number of homes in Appleby have had little or no water supply since we last posted to say the school will be open tomorrow.
We have regrettably decided that due to the uncertainty surrounding the water supply, AGS will be CLOSED tomorrow - Wednesday 12 February. We know that Appleby Primary have had to make the same difficult decision.
We apologise for the late notification and hope that this notice gives everyone the chance to make alternative arrangements.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding. Please share both this and the APS post to ensure that all parents/carers receive this message.
Update: 12 February @ 18.00pm - School Open.
School will be open tomorrow, assuming no unforeseen developments occur. Please keep an eye on the website and our Facebook page for updates.
